Manchester University Combats Poor Student Satisfaction Levels

6:18 am Reference and Education

Students at the University of Manchester kicked up such a storm through opinion polls and their student paper that vice-chancellor Dame Rothwell has taken drastic action to raise the standard of teaching at the university that has been slipping down the league tables.

In a move that goes against general trends in hiring at further education establishments, Rothwell has opted to enter 2012 hiring 100 more staff in to lecturing jobs. Furthermore to reduce the numbers in lecture halls and student seminars and classrooms the vice-chancellor has boldly opted to reduce the student in-take by a thousand, despite the higher fees that these students would bring to the university.

Going forwards the University is pledging to bring back quality teaching rather than opting to take huge quantities of students. This has pleased students who were among those out in the student protests surrounding higher uncapped tuition fees in the summer of 2011.
