what exactly is a patent application… and how is it best described? this is a common question asked often amongst many new inventors. a patent application can be defined as a set of papers or questions that an inventor must file with the u. s. p. t. o. (this acronym is also commonly known as the united states patent and trademark office). it is a certain kind of request that is pending within the united states patent and trademark office  for the granting of a specific patent for an invention that is therein described and claimed for by the inventor in the confines of the previously mentioned application.
